About livinginthemoment

I guess it takes a little humility to ask for help sometimes. I have had to learn that over the past couple of years. I was married for 13 years and had a great job and life was good financially but I was with an alcoholic so I had to leave him now I have 4 children 10 month little girl, and boys 7,10 and 13. I have done everything in my power to keep my home so they wouldn't have to go through that as well as an adbsent father, but got laid off from my job so now I am watching babies at my house because I can't afford childcare if I'm not making a lot of money with 4 children. I am just scared  and trying to figure out what help I can get. It feels unnatural for me to ask for help when I always was a person able to help others. I am just so worried about trying to have my children a Christmas this year. Three of my children all have their birthdays before Christmas on top of it. This weekend the wheel barring in my vehicle went and that is going to cost around $350 to $400 and I have shut offs on all my utilities.  My mom would help me if she could but she is a realtor and hasn't sold anything in so long and she may have to sell her house nevermind she lost basically the mahority of her retirement funds with the stockmarket. If there is any help out there I sure need it. I am just trying to stay a float and with the extra things that surprise you just could be the difference of keeping a roof over your head or not.  livinginthemoment06@yahoo.com  Thank you for any idea or help out there, Kim

A Number to get some direction

Well, I am still searching for a job but I do have a line on one. In the mean time life has been very lean. The Gov. Passed a bill extending unemployment benefits in vermont for another 13 weeks. Although mine had run out for over a month they let me sign back up. That really helps alot so if anyone was on unemployment and is still unemployed (in VT) call the unemployment agency and see if you are eligable for the extention. The worst than can happen is they say no.

Also I discovered a resource called 211. It is run by united way and they can give you names and phone numbers of places that might be able to help you. They gave me the Phone #'s of a few food shelves and a place that could help me keep my utilities from getting shut off. I'm not sure if they are only in Vt. but just pick up your phone and dial 211. They even helped me find resources to help with my husbands meds (we lost being insured when I lost my job).

I hope this helps some of you. It beats sitting in a State Office for hours just to find out they can't help you.

Remember... All things pass. Life gets better, then it gets worse, then it gets better, It's always changing. When it's bad, look around you. There is always something good there, you just have to stop worrying and see it. And if you can't find it, read the local news. There is always someone out there who has it worse.

I will keep searching and posting any resources I come across. Till then, keep the faith, it will get better.

I'm so very Rich with things money can't buy.

About NE_Single_Mom

My gas was shut off yesterday and they need $713.60 to turn it back on.

I can't believe how lousy I feel lately. Never used to be this hard taking care of my two children alone.

This is just the tip of the iceberg that is heading my way. I have an electric bill with a disconnect for Monday, August 4, 2008, for $345.43 and our home phone is due to be disconnected the same day for the $258.87.

The war has killed my income from my small in-home business since we live on discretionary income of others who purchase my products.

If there is any help to offer, please let me know.

About AndrewM

I am a 47 year old man. I used to be a truck driver. My wife is 58 years old and worked as an administrative assistant. We are both disabled. My wife suffers from kidney failure. She had a transplant that ended up failing and is back on dialysis. We have been married 14 years.

An accident involving a drunk driver started the chronic pain conditions I now suffer. I have fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, arthritis, myofacial pain symdrome, chronic insomnia and a host of other problems.

My wife collects regular social security  disability. I only get SSI. Someone between my mail box and social security office "lost " my file for 9 months.  Combined we still make less than a thousand a month. Our bills are over a thousand $ a month.

We are behind on rent, electric, Car insurance, cable and telephone. We have shut off notices. They all call us so often I want to scream. The van we drive is a 95 ford aerostar that is falling apart. We need tires and engine work done so we can keep the car running. My wife needs that van to get back and forth from dialysis. We have no public transportation in our area. We both need cloths desperately. Neither of us has bought a xmas, birthday, anniversary present in 4 years. W have exhausted our options for assistance from churches etc. We are about to get evicted because of the rent and I really don't want to be homeless again. Did it once , didn't like it.

Please help us any way you can

SINGLE MOM OF THREE BOYS DESPERATE FOR HELP

Hello my name is Amy and I am a single mom of three boys from Colorado.  I lost my job in April due to witnessing a near drowning of a small child last summer which led to severe PTSD and panic disorder.  I got to the child first and she was blue and foaming at the mouth and I was unable to perform CPR even though I knew it, I just froze.  We are about to be kicked out of our house, and have shut off notices for everything.  I have tried everything I can think of to get a loan but to no avail.  I have raised my boys on my own and have been through two very abusive relationships and am no longer in them.  I had a very good job but could not keep it due to the stress of the job on top of the many panic attacks I had per day.  I just need some help, I am willing to pay you back with interest.  The story is much longer than this but I will end it here for now.  Thank you in advance - Amy - Grand Junction, CO
